In this vibrant prerecorded conversation, Holy Shift senior teacher Shawn Moore shares what he means when he says “Sound Is My Sanctuary.” He shares insights he got from writing his workbook of the same name, emphasizing the importance of cultivating an authentic relationship with sound. He outlines four core components of sound healing—production, intentionality, environment, and reception—while also highlighting the power of silence and introducing a “pathway framework” (PATHWAY) to guide personal exploration.

Shawn provides practical advice for developing a sound practice, starting with a sound inventory to assess one’s relationship with sound. He encourages choosing instruments that resonate personally and emphasizes personal practice before facilitating for others. He inspires listeners to embrace their unique, messy journeys through sound healing. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did!

As always, free for all members! If you’re not a member of our community yet, we’d love to have you! Learn more here.

About Shawn Moore

Shawn Moore resides at the intersection of leadership and mindfulness. Shawn is a yoga teacher, sound and reiki practitioner, meditation teacher, Yoga Nidra facilitator, and Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, all focused through a Buddhist lens and 17 years of personal practice. In addition to holding community space through classes, he provides training in leadership and strengths-based development, and workshops in mindfulness, meditation and sound healing.

Shawn has worked in higher education and student affairs for over 10 years, with a particular focus on diverse populations. Reckoning with his own contemplation of burnout, purpose, and alignment, Shawn transitioned out of his role as Associate Dean of Student Life & Leadership at Morehouse College in the fall of 2021 to focus more on mindfulness and stillness-based training programs and workshops.

He has contributed workshops, practices, and educational opportunities for celebrities like Questlove, and various yoga studios and colleges, Yoga International, Omstars, Melanin Moves Project, the Human Rights Campaign, Spotify and Lululemon.

While being a proud dog dad, a hardcore gamer, and lover of all things anime, Shawn also hosts a podcast called The Mindful Rebel® Podcast that creates a platform to continually explore this unique intersection of leadership and mindfulness.
